Mileage depends on how the vehicle is maintained and how it is driven. You do not need special products: these simple habits make the biggest difference.

Driving habits

  1. Accelerate smoothly. Hard acceleration uses much more fuel.
  2. Keep a steady speed. Avoid unnecessary speeding up and braking in traffic.
  3. Use the right gear. Change up early; very high engine speed wastes fuel.
  4. Switch off for long stops. Idling for a long time uses fuel for no distance.
  5. Plan trips. Several short cold-start trips use more fuel than one combined trip.

Maintenance

  1. Keep tyres at the correct pressure. Soft tyres increase rolling resistance.
  2. Service on time. Clean air filters, fresh oil and good spark plugs help the engine run efficiently.
  3. Check the brakes. A dragging brake acts like a constant handbrake.
  4. Reduce extra weight. Remove heavy items you do not need to carry.
  5. Use the AC sensibly. In cars, the AC adds load; at higher speeds, closed windows with the AC on can be better than open windows.

If your mileage drops suddenly, it is often a sign of a maintenance issue. A general service is a good place to start.
